Northwest Girls take first place in two Tournaments !!
A varsity indoor soccer team coached by Venn Blakely recenty took first place in two indoor tournaments.
Playing for Northwest at the Fredonia State indoor soccer tournament on Feb.8, 2004, was Kris Blakely, Meg Maggitti, Shannon Ecklund, Jessica Lassen, Maura Hayes, Sarah Meabon, Jacquie Holmberg, Tara Sturzenbecker, Karla Vogt, and Megan Swoger. The girls edged out Grand Island in the semi-finals by one goal and Fredonia in the finals in overtime, also by one goal.
On Feb.28, 2004, the team placed first in the Houghton College indoor soccer tournament. Playing for Northwest was

The team was undefeated, and due to a strong defense, unscored on. After winning their pool, they defeated Addison, Houghton (1-0 with 4 overtimes), then went on to defeat Letchworth in the finals 4-0.
Three members of the team, Stephanie Karst, Tara Sturzenbecker, and Karla Vogt, were awarded All -Tournament team honors by the tournament commitee.

Indoor Soccer sign-ups Winter 2014
Area boys and girls age 4 by February 2nd and not turning age 14 until April 26 may sign up for Indoor Soccer. Sign ups will be held from 6 to 8 pm, at Country Fair in Brocton on Mon., January 12, Tuesday, Jan.13 and Thursday, Jan. 15, at the Eason Hall in Westfield, Wednesday, Jan. 14 at Meeder’s Restaurant in Ripley, and Tuesday, Jan. 20 in the main lobby of Chautauqua Lake Central School in Mayville.
Age groups will be 4-5, 6-8, 9-11 and 12-13. Teams are coed and practices are limited. The program will run from February 2 through April 25. We will play one Saturday at Family First Sports Park in Erie (included in the fee). Ages 4-5 play Saturday mornings at the Eason Hall in Westfield, older children play on Saturday afternoon at various schools in the area. Fees are $25 for the first child, $20 for the second and $15 for the third (max. of $60 per family)for Westfield children, $30 for the first child, $25 for the second and $20 for the third (max. of $75 per family) for non-Westfield children. You can sign your child up for fall soccer by printing off the above form and mailing it to "Attention: Westfield Rec. Dept." at 23 Elm St., Westfield, NY 14787, or by stopping by Eason Hall (at the village window) at the same address anytime Monday-Friday between 8-4:30. We will be picking teams the last week in August, so you should hear something by September 1st.
